September 23, 2005 The End of Cheap Transport Fuel
Richard Gilbert is an urban issues consultant who focuses on transportation, waste management, energy systems and urban governance. You may review Richard's brief bionote here.
Richard has recently co-authored (with Anthony Perl of the University of Calgary) a comprehensive document entitled "Energy and Transport Futures" prepared for the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy. The work is very relevant, and at once credible and provocative.
The subject matter covered in the report is large, consequently in his presentation to the GTTC Richard provided an overview of the findings of the study, and more detail regarding his recent analysis (undertaken in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Transportation) of the implications for the GTA and Hamilton.
You may download a copy of the "Energy and Transport Futures" report here.
