Connected Vehicle R&D in the U.S. Benefits and Challenges with Brendon Hemily, Ph.D., ITS America
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are playing an increasingly important role for transit operations, planning, and marketing. The entire field is rapidly evolving towards a Connected Vehicle Environment, supported by high-speed wireless communications between vehicles, infrastructure, and people with mobile devices. The result is widespread, real-time, integrated data environments, as well as a host of new applications.
The US Department of Transportation (US DOT) is pursuing a multi-million dollar, multi-faceted research and development program to explore potential applications, benefits, and challenges of connected vehicles. Brendon will describe the latest R&D projects sponsored by US DOT and others, and explore potential benefits and challenges related to the evolving connected vehicle environment.
