The Greater Toronto Transportation Conference (GTTC) values and respects the privacy of our Members including the security of personal data. GTTC agrees to use such information for the purpose collected. This applies to both paper based and online information that is collected and used in the course of our activities.
The GTTC strives to comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The Act reflects the following ten principles set out in the National Standard of Canada Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information: Accountability; Identification of Purposes; Consent; Limiting Collection; Limiting Use; Disclosure and Retention; Accuracy; Safeguards; Openness; Individual Access; and Challenging Compliance.
Collection of Data
Personal data is collected from time to time during the membership application and renewal process. Members can use the website, email, phone or fax to update their information. Reminders to keep information accurate are included in Member communications.
Member information is kept in the records of the administrator of the GTTC in both paper and electronic form and is published for Members only access on the GTTC website. The website is housed offsite with a service provider. This data is used to maintain communication with the Members and to facilitate communication amongst the Members.
The GTTC does not release Members personal information to third parties.
Members may provide the GTTC with a web link and a request that the link be posted on the GTTC website. At the GTTC’s discretion, the link may be posted provided that it relates to the activities of the Member’s organization, the Member’s personal professional activities or other suitable and relevant information.
GTTC also collects certain information about the speakers and presenters at our meetings. Such information as is collected is provided with the express understanding that it may be made available to the Members and may also be placed on the GTTC website.
Consent for the collection of data is obtained as follows: implied consent is given upon completion of the membership application and entry and/or revision of Member information on the GTTC website; and express consent is obtained for all other personal information.
Security safeguards, such as limited access, password protection, and GTTC policies and procedures protect personal Member information.
Members may change their website password at any time.
Member contact information is provided in the Members only section of the website. All Members have access to this information.
Please be assured that the GTTC takes Member privacy seriously and takes every reasonable measure to protect it. Members can confirm the accuracy of, and update, their personal information by entering the Members Only section and clicking on the “edit my profile” button.
